The fourth conference of the American Energy Department on biomass (BIOMASS 2013)
took place in Washington from 30 July to 1 August 2013. This high-level conference brought together 700 participants, almost all of whom were American, from both public and private sectors and research. There were speeches from the Secretaries of Agriculture (Tom Vilsack) and Energy (Ernest Moniz), as well as members of Congress (John Garamendi, House of Representatives, Democrat, California, and Chuck Grassley, Senator, Republican, Iowa, for example) not forgetting presentations by company directors and directors of department, public agency and laboratory programmes.
