On 26 January, NEOMA Confucius Institute for Business inaugurated its new office on our Reims campus.

After the launch in January 2014 on our Rouen campus of the first Confucius Institute for Business in France, which won the award for “Confucius Institute of the Year” in December 2016, NEOMA Business School continues to extend its ambitious policy to build bridges between its campuses and China.

In the exceptional presence of Ying ZHANG and Yifei REN, representing Yansheng MA, Minister-Councillor for Education at the Chinese Embassy in France and Yanjun HE, Chinese Consul General de in Strasbourg, the Reims office was inaugurated by Yves BENARD, President of NEOMA Business School, Frank BOSTYN, Dean of NEOMA BS, Haiyan ZHANG and Shufen LI, Directors of NEOMA Confucius Institute for Business and Pascal CHOQUET, Reims Campus Director. Greater Reims area and the city of Reims were also represented by Benjamin DEVELEY, Deputy-Mayor responsible for international relations.

“Improving understanding to enhance our exchanges, comparing our visions to go forward together: NEOMA Confucius Institute for Business symbolises our aim to strengthen relations between France and China. Like the one on our Rouen campus, the ambition of this new office is to create even closer links between our community, local businesses, and their Chinese counterparts,” declared Frank Bostyn.

NEOMA Confucius Institute for Business now has three years’ experience of organising business events and executive training programmes in France and throughout Europe.

In addition to its business targets, our institute endeavours to help both young and old find out more about China and its fascinating culture and considerably enhance their personal development.

The inauguration, held two days before the Chinese New Year, was the perfect illustration of this endeavour, bringing together nearly two hundred people to take part in the different activities organised:

Entertaining, creative, gastronomic and sports activities were all on offer, with workshops organised and led by students from the CESEM Franco-Chinese programme and their professors: paper cutting, Xiangqi, Jiaozi making (Chinese ravioli), table tennis, riddles, karaoke, music and traditional tea tasting;

There were also cultural activities, with an exceptional concert by musicians from the Copenhagen Confucius Institute for Music, founded by the Beijing Conservatoire and the Danish Royal Academy of Music;

Finally, business was of course included, with a panel discussion on the topic of “Champagne & China, new perceptions, new potential?” chaired by Gaëlle LE GUIRRIEC-MILNER, who leads the “Champagne & Wine Management” major  of the NEOMA Business School Master in Management programme. The panel included Jia PENG, manager of Le Parfait (wine and vine communication in China via the social networks), David MENIVAL, Director of Crédit Agricole du Nord Est Champagne department, Jacques DABERE, Consultant – ITG Consultants (specialist in champagne exports) and Huaiyuan HAN, Professor of economics at NEOMA BS (specialist on champagne consumption in China).

Our School will more than ever be open to the people of Reims with language courses, cultural workshops, business events and conferences organised by the new office.
