“Catch the wave in Paris with NEOMA BS Incubator!”… was the invitation launched by the School’s business incubator to officially inaugurate its new Paris branch on 23 May. Graduates, investors, project leaders, young entrepreneurs… more than 120 guests attended the event to discover the new premises covering more than 100m², devoted to entrepreneurship and innovation in the heart of the French capital. The décor for the occasion celebrated California and surfing, inviting everyone to “catch the wave” of success and innovation!
To introduce the event, Denis Gallot, Director of NEOMA BS Incubator, reviewed the history of the organisation, its mission and its results over the last six years. With 200 projects presented since its beginnings and more than 33 start-ups launched, the results speak for themselves.
NEOMA BS has always declared its commitment to entrepreneurship, a claim based on its network and particularly on the three major patrons of NEOMA BS Incubator, who were also keen to share with the audience their reasons for supporting the incubator and for encouraging student entrepreneurship. “Sixteen years ago there were only two entrepreneurs in my year group, so when you look at the progress that has been made you can only feel proud” stressed Ilan Benhaim (MiM 01), Co-founder of vente-privee. “We have a responsibility to encourage the improvement of society, which relies on innovation,” continued Jacky Lintignat (MiM 75) an associate at KPMG. Didier Taupin (MiM 82), Managing Partner for Consulting, Deloitte France, fully shared this view. He “was always convinced that education and entrepreneurship were the two principal vectors of development in our environment.”
The young project leaders hoping to create or acquire their own firm took the opportunity offered by the presence of numerous investors to pitch their projects and, who knows, obtain funding to support the launch or development of their project. Two young entrepreneurs who were among the first to benefit from the services of NEOMA BS Incubator, and whose projects have experienced remarkable growth and success also spoke: Victor Gobourg (BBA 2011) and Marché Privé; and Sami Bouhia (MiM 2013) and Rencart. They recalled their initial uncertainty mixed with the intuition of their success, together with their current and future developments. They were clearly passionate about their entrepreneurial venture, launched with the support of the School.
After a guided tour of the new premises, a cocktail reception organised by two of the Incubator’s start-ups ended the evening, along with some informal networking!
