A large number of Normandy firms were in attendance on a vibrant Rouen campus hoping to learn all about the NEOMA Confucius Institute for Business – Rouen.
The honour of opening the ceremony fell to Yves Bénard, the School’s President. He reminded us that the principal aim of the institute is to encourage the development of economic relations between China and France. He also warmly thanked all our partners, without whom the project would not have come to fruition.
Several of them also spoke. Representatives from the University of Nankai (China), the Greater Rouen Area, the Haute-Normandie Region and HANBAN (Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) all expressed their great satisfaction at seeing links between our two countries strengthened in the fields of education and business.
A highlight of the ceremony was the exceptional presence of Laurent FABIUS, Minister for Foreign Affairs, who congratulated all of the stakeholders for making the project a success, a project that he had encouraged by calling on China and France to forge closer relations.
After the unveiling of the inaugural plaque, to the sound of a traditional Chinese gong, Sylvie BERMANN, French Ambassador to China, spoke on the subject of Franco-Chinese relations.
At the end of her talk, Frank BOSTYN, Dean of NEOMA Business School, brought the ceremony to a close and invited the participants to make their way to the institute’s offices for the traditional ribbon cutting.
The previous day, in the presence of representatives from the six other Confucius Institutes for Business du monde in the world, NEOMA Business School presented its Institute to a number of Parisian firms. They then had the privilege of hearing a lecture on the subject of Chinese investment in Europe.
All the participants praised the very high quality of the inauguration and are delighted at the opening of new perspectives for a profitable future for China and France.
