SEM 2027, Paris

Introduction

2027 Meeting of the SEM Working Group

17 to 19 March 2027
NEOMA Business School, Paris, France.

The annual meeting provides a forum for researchers working on methodological, theoretical, computational, and applied developments in Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and related latent variable methods. The meeting aims to foster scientific exchange, discussion of recent methodological advances, and collaboration among researchers in the field.

Speakers

Keynote Addresses

We are pleased to announce keynote contributions by:

silvia bianconcini SEM2027

Prof. Silvia Bianconcini, University of Bologna. “Autoregressive Latent Trajectory Models: 25 Years Later”

Fan Wallentin SEM 2027

Prof. Fan Wallentin, Uppsala University. Title TBA.

Post-Conference Workshop

Manuel Voelkle SEM 2027

Prof. Manuel Voelkle (University of Freiburg) will lead a post-conference workshop on 19 March 2027 from 9:30 to 12:30 AM.

The workshop is open to all registered participants, regardless of whether they present a paper at the meeting.

Call for Contributions

We invite participants to submit abstracts for oral presentations on methodological developments, applications, and emerging topics in Structural Equation Modeling and related areas.

Each participant may be the presenting author of one oral contribution, while there is no restriction on the number of submissions on which a participant may appear as a co-author.

Oral presentations will be scheduled on 17 and 18 March 2027.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Abstracts should provide a clear and concise description of the research question or objective, the methodological approach, and, where applicable, the main results and conclusions.

Abstracts must not exceed 500 words, including references. Submissions should include the title of the contribution, names and affiliations of all authors, and identification of the presenting author.

Abstracts should be submitted online: https://forms.gle/GeRUQsNnrkFKa72F7

Submission deadline: 1 December 2026
Notification of acceptance: 15 December 2026

Submissions addressing methodological, theoretical, computational, and applied aspects of SEM and latent variable modeling are welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • SEM and causal inference
  • Missing data and multiple imputation
  • Longitudinal measurement and continuous-time modeling
  • Longitudinal data analysis using IRT models
  • Bayesian structural equation modeling
  • State–trait modeling
  • Moderation and interaction effects involving latent variables
  • Integration of machine-learning methods with latent variable modeling
  • Multilevel structural equation modeling
  • Mixture models and latent class approaches in SEM
  • SEM approaches to response processes, including response styles, careless responding, and rapid guessing
  • Methodological and computational advances in SEM software
  • Open science practices in SEM, including reproducibility, transparency, and reporting standards
  • Visualisation and communication of SEM results
  • Innovative approaches to teaching and learning SEM
  • Other recent theoretical, methodological, computational, and applied developments in SEM and latent variable modeling

Registration

Participants are required to register by 28 February 2027 using the following link:  https://forms.gle/2sHiaAMLRJUggMQe6

Participation

There is no conference registration fee. Participation is free of charge for both presenting and non-presenting participants.

Participants will, however, be responsible for the cost of their lunches and, should they choose to attend, the conference social dinner.

Further practical information concerning meals, the social dinner, and the conference venue will be provided to registered participants.
