Marianna is an Associate Professor of Finance at NEOMA Business School. She holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Bayes Business School, City St George’s, University of London, UK. Her research lies at the intersection of energy economics, renewable energy integration, commodity markets, and climate finance, with a particular focus on the economic and financial implications of the transition toward decentralized and low-carbon energy systems.
Marianna is Principal Investigator and coordinator of REFRAME (Decentralization of Electricity Systems – An Integrated Approach for Risk Assessment and Mitigation in the Energy Sector), a Franco-German research project funded under the FRAL 2024 programme of the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the German Research Foundation (DFG). The project reflects her broader research agenda on the transformation of energy systems, with particular attention to risk, market dynamics, consumer behaviour, and the economic implications of increasing decentralization.
Her research has been published in leading international journals, including the European Journal of Operational Research, The Energy Journal, Energy Economics, and the Journal of Commodity Markets. She is also a certified FinTech professional from Harvard University, complementing her expertise in finance and energy economics with knowledge of emerging financial technologies.
At NEOMA Business School, Marianna teaches financial econometrics, microeconomics, and fundamentals of finance across undergraduate and graduate programmes. Prior to her academic career, she worked as an energy economist at Eni, a major international energy company. This combination of academic research and industry experience informs her approach to both research and teaching, enabling her to connect rigorous economic and financial analysis with the practical challenges facing energy markets and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
