NEO’Insights #7 | Driving ESG Change

NEO’Insights #7 | Driving ESG Change

Driving meaningful ESG change often requires going beyond traditional boundaries and building alliances between actors with different — and sometimes competing — interests. How can bold ideas translate into measurable impact?

Recent research in sustainable finance highlights emerging forms of influence at the intersection of NGOs, investors, and corporations. Through the case of Follow This, a Dutch NGO that successfully engaged major oil companies to adopt Paris-aligned climate targets, this research sheds light on how entire industries can be shifted.

During this NEO’Insights session, Michelle van Weeren, Assistant Professor in Accounting & Sustainable Finance at NEOMA Business School, will present preliminary findings from her research conducted with Thomas Thijssens (Open University, Netherlands). Their longitudinal study identifies four key levers to drive impact in complex ecosystems: media visibility, strategic framing, adaptability, and stakeholder coordination across different levels of influence.

This session will provide practical insights for leaders seeking to better understand and drive ESG transformation in uncertain and evolving environments.
