NEO’Insights #4 | Mitigating ESG Risk Exposure through Supply Chain Transparency

NEO’Insights: Mitigating ESG Risk Exposure through Supply Chain Transparency

For this fourth edition of NEO’Insights, we take a closer look at a topic that is gaining importance for many companies: how supply chain transparency shapes ESG risk exposure. Each session in the series focuses on a concrete business issue, combining recent research findings with practical perspectives for managers.

Supply chain transparency has become a central concern, driven by stricter disclosure and due diligence requirements. Yet monitoring and collaboration efforts often remain focused on direct suppliers, overlooking the deeper layers of the network. High-profile cases such as ESG violations linked to upstream suppliers at Kellogg’s or Nestlé, demonstrate that risk often emerges beyond first-tier visibility.

In a recent global study, we identified the pivotal role of Nexus suppliers : critical second-tier suppliers whose unique position and access to resources can significantly influence a buyer’s ESG risk exposure. Understanding them is essential to building resilient, compliant and responsible supply networks.

During this session, we will explore key operational questions, grounded in empirical evidence:

  • How can companies identify Nexus suppliers within a multi-tier supply chain?
  • How does the transparency of these suppliers affect ESG risk exposure?
  • How can firms enhance, monitor and benefit from Nexus supplier transparency?
  • And what do these Nexus suppliers look like across different sectors?

This conference will offer actionable insights for leaders navigating rising ESG expectations, supply chain complexity, and regulatory pressure.
